We will start our morning at The State Arboreteum of Virginia, The Blandy Farm, an extensive experimental farm that features quite a few collections. We will focus on the Herbaceous gardens including the pollinator garden, a zoo garden where all the plants have animal names and of course the herb garden. Lunch will be at The Tea Cart, Berryville VA where we will enjoy a Traditional British Afternoon Tea. Our afternoon will be spent at Oatlands Plantation, Leesburg, VA operated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. This property is composed of the main mansion and 415 acres of farmland and gardens. The house is judged one of the finest Federal period country estate houses in the nation. We will have a mansion and garden tour here. Blooming Hill is a tiny "farmlet" owned by Cyndie and Peter Rinek and situated on four acres in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge. They will welcome us to peruse and enjoy the garden gift shop and, most especially, the gardens that highlight a collection of 1,000 lavender plants in almost 100 different varieties lovingly tended throughout the property. Here we will have a lovely evening tea party before we drive back to Pennsylvania.
