We will visit three of New Jersey's premier historic public gardens. Once a country estate, Reeves-ReedArboretum is now a 13.5 acre public garden listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places. Its estate and gardens represent design trends by prominent late 19th and early 20th century landscape architects, including Calvert Vaux, a partner of Frederick Law Olmsted. Next is Greenwood Gardens in Short Hills. Some of you may remember Greenwood Gardens as the amazing arts and crafts garden we visited in 2013.This garden is a jewel in the Garden State--a 28 acre garden with majestic trees, meadows, ponds, and cultivated woodlands. The Cross EstateGardens will round out our day. Originally part of a summer mansion these gardens feature a formal garden, mountain laurel allee and native gardens. A fresh herbal Box Lunch will be prepared by Cornerstone Coffeehouse. On our route home we will stop at Blue Mountain Herbals, Hamburg, PA to visit this charming herb shop. Our fresh herbal dinner will be across the street at Hecky's in Hamburg. Please select your entree when you register: broiled chicken, hot roast beef or veggie lasagna. During dinner we will taste and learn about the "Wild Tea" tea company.
